Small Even Lawns
Reel mowers are excellent for small lawns providing that the lawn is fairly flat and free of large amounts of weeds. Another thing that helps make mowing with a reel mower an easy and enjoyable task is to not allow the grass to grow over two inches in height. If the grass is allowed to get any taller than this it can make mowing with a reel mower a very difficult and cumbersome task. This is because when you are using a reel mower you are the engine and grass that is very tall is harder to mow even for powered mowers.
If your yard is extremely small but you do not relish the idea of the workout that a reel mower can provide, then you may want to consider purchasing a corded electric mower. They don’t have a very far range because of their cord, but if your lawn is tiny this won’t be an issue.
The third option is a cordless mower. These are great if you yard is large enough that mowing with a corded mower is out of the question. There are a few different models and they all have different charging times and are capable of mowing for different lengths of time between charges. Typically a 24 volt mower is capable of providing anywhere from between one and two hours of mowing time depending on the length of the grass.
Your final option is a small gas powered push mower. These are great if you like to keep your lawn mowed fairly short and you want a little extra power behind your mower. Just keep in mind the fluctuating cost of gasoline and the maintenance requirements such as oil, air filters, and spark plugs.
